Send text from Mac to Windows (or phone to PC) instantly
You copied something on your Mac and need it on your Windows PC. Or a link on your phone that you want on your laptop. Emailing it to yourself works, but it's slow and clutters your inbox. Here's a faster way that works between any two devices.
Create a note nowHow to do it in 3 steps
- On the first device, open notelive.app/new. You get a blank note with its own address, like
notelive.app/xK2p9mQa. - On the second device, open the same address. Type it in, or bookmark the note so you can reuse it every day.
- Paste or type on either one. The text appears on the other screen instantly, as you type. Copy it from there and you're done.
Tip: bookmark the note on both computers and keep it open in a tab. It becomes a shared clipboard between your Mac and your PC. Avoid easy-to-guess names like notelive.app/clipboard: anyone who guesses the address can read it.
Why not just email it to yourself?
- It's instant. No waiting for the email to arrive, no refreshing the inbox.
- No inbox clutter. No more "note to self" emails piling up.
- It works both ways. Edit on Windows and see it on your Mac, then reply from the Mac.
- It works across ecosystems. Apple's Universal Clipboard only works between Apple devices. NoteLive works between Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android, because it only needs a browser.
- Nothing to install or sign in to. Useful on a work computer where you can't install apps or don't want to log in to your personal accounts.
What you can send
- Links you found on your phone and want to open on your computer.
- Code snippets, terminal commands and error messages.
- Addresses, tracking numbers, Wi-Fi details for a guest, or any text you'd otherwise type twice.
- Long texts: up to 100,000 characters per note.
Good to know
- Free notes are deleted after 24 hours. Perfect for quick transfers: nothing lingers. If you want a permanent note, for example as an everyday shared clipboard, NoteLive Pro keeps your notes forever.
- Anyone with the link can see the note. Use a random note address (the default) and don't paste passwords or sensitive data.
Try it now: open a note here, then open the same link on your other device.
